Sojourner’s Project, Wayside House, the St. Louis Park Emergency Program and area public school students were beneficiaries of more than $4,500 in gifts and food baskets thanks to The Great Thanksgiving.

The Great Thanksgiving is a partnership project of area churches working in the Spark Collaborative Ministries of Saint Louis Park, a joint effort of Ascension, First, Reformation, Westwood and Wooddale Lutheran churches. The group seeks to raise the profiles of these community-oriented service providers in times of economic hardship.

At many area providers, $1 has the buying power of $9.

The Great Thanksgiving used Thanksgiving services at three churches to collect donations and emphasize the role of communities of faith around issues of poverty and need.

Join us Sunday, December 21st for “The Winter Rose,” a choir cantata featuring the combined First Lutheran and Ascension Choirs. It will be hosted at Ascension.

The Great Thanksgiving took in over $4500 and many pounds of food supporting many local social service agencies. Thank you for your generosity!

“I think one of the most beautiful things is, children are happy just watching the luggage come out at the airport. That does kind of rub off, but I don’t know how it affects the photography.” The wonder of watching luggage on the carousel…the wonder of living into relationship with a God of deep love and abiding affection.
