Sorenson and Spirit of Christ: Partners Serving the Park
In July, Sorenson neighbors and Spirit of Christ Community Lutheran Church held another summer food and school supply drive for the St. Louis Park Emergency Program (STEP.) If you distributed or picked up donation bags, left something on your doorstep or sent in a check, thank you for your contributions! The drive brought in an actual *ton of food*, *50* backpacks, *four carloads* of school supplies and *$600.00*. Every dollar you donated, translates to $9.00 of purchasing power for meat, produce and other perishable items. STEP’s Back to School Program just equipped 599 kids with supplies they need for a successful school year. And, food shelf clients were thrilled to see a wonderful variety of new products when they came to do their shopping.
In case our church name doesn’t sound familiar: two congregations-Ascension and First Lutheran with longtime neighborhood ties in St. Louis Park- united as Spirit of Christ Community Lutheran Church at 5801 Minnetonka Boulevard. We remain committed to supporting our neighbors and look forward partnering with you to serve the community for many years to come.
On September 19th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., we invite families to come to Spirit of Christ to work on a STEP service project. This as your opportunity to show the next generation of neighborhood kids that they can make a difference in their community by working together with friends and neighbors.
